Surfing IPFS with Handshake

Public.Records is a public IPFS gateway on Handshake, from us at The Shake.

There are 19 public IPFS gateways currently online, only 2 of which are reliably up: dweb.link by Protocol Labs and cf-ipfs.com by Cloudflare. All of them use traditional DNS hostnames and are subject to the risks of traditional domains.

To access IPFS over Handshake, Namebase offers a DNSLink-based gateway. You can set CNAME and TXT records to point your domain to a specific file on IPFS.

To access IPFS over Handshake without your own domain hosting, you can now use public.records. To our knowledge, it is also the first IPFS gateway secured via DANE and accessible via light client resolver. Retrieve any IPFS file using the path: https://public.records/ipfs/[Insert CID]

You can visit app.public.records to search for an IPFS file using its CID, test example links to pre-loaded IPFS files, and learn more about how to access the gateway.
